Mohanji’s television interview via Skype on SABC, South Africa

On the occasion of Diwali, Brahmarishi Mohanji was interviewed live via Skype on SABC’s prime time news.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) is the state broadcaster in South Africa, and provides 19 radio stations (AM/FM) as well as 5 television broadcasts to the general public.

More than a billion Hindus around the world, including South Africa celebrate Diwali, or Deepawali – The Festival of Lights.Historically it signifies the victory of Light over darkness and Good over evil, Wisdom over ignorance and Hope over despair.

The tradition of Diwali is vibrant and colorful, and is one of the most looked forward to annual events on the Hindu calendar.

It’s a Festival of Joy and brings together family, friends and colleagues,all participating in the celebrations and the part-taking of elaborately prepared feasts, together with the exchanging of gifts with near and ear ones.

Diwali also highlights the importance of the act of giving, of kindness and charity.

In South Africa families and groups join resources to feed the poor and distribute packed hampers to those in need.

Dusk sees the lighting of rows upon rows of clay lamps, also known as diyas.

The message of Diwali is universally acclaimed.
