Celebrating the Divine Bliss of Vijayadashami & Shirdi Sai Baba Mahasamadhi!
On the 24th of October, a truly remarkable event unfolded at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence in Scotland – our very first Vijayadashami and Shirdi Sai Baba Mahasamadhi celebration!
Shirdi Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi, occurring on Vijayadashami, holds a profound significance. It signifies his transition from his limited earthly form to an omnipresent consciousness that is accessible to devotees all around the world. Baba is no longer confined to a physical body; you can connect with him from anywhere, and he will respond.
The day commenced with the melodious sounds of the Bhupali and Kaakad Aarti, awakening the warm, powerful and expansive presence of Shirdi Sai Baba in the temple. What made this event even more special was that it was broadcasted live on YouTube, allowing members from all corners of the globe to join us in real time, fostering a sense of unity and devotion.
The heart of the event was the online sacred reading of the Sai Satcharitra, a book that has connected countless souls to the benevolent presence of Baba. Each person had the opportunity to read a different chapter, adding a personal touch to the collective spiritual journey that was unfolding during the day.
Shirdi Sai Baba’s divine energy graced our Centre as we took him on a precision-guided journey around our grounds. We visited the very spot where he once manifested himself in a subtle form to one fortunate devotee, and we also stopped by the wish-fulfilling tree, the revered Shiva Linga, Lord Dattatreya’s abode, and the tree where Lord Hanuman has sculpted his form. Finally, Baba was welcomed back to the temple, where a ritualistic bathing, or Abhishekham, ceremony awaited him.
The traditional Madhyaan Aarti ceremony followed at midday, filling the air with devotion and joy. After lunch, a powerful Homa brought the day-specific temple events to a close, while the reading of the Sai Satcharitra wrapped up just in time for the final Aarti, where Baba, looking transcendent and translucent in a pure white shawl and head garment, was gently put to rest at 9 PM.
What made this event truly exceptional was that even though many couldn’t be physically present, our online presence and the live Zoom rituals allowed all of us to tap into that same sacred energy and experience the divine presence of Baba, right from the comfort of our homes.
Om Sai Ram – a resounding note of gratitude to Shirdi Sai Baba for blessing us with this unforgettable day of devotion, unity, and spiritual elevation.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on this sacred journey. We look forward to many more such celebrations in the future. Stay tuned for our upcoming events and come be a part of our growing spiritual family at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence in Scotland.
