First Mahashivaratri at Mohanji Centre of Benevolence, Smallburn, Scotland (18/02/2023)

Shivaratri – the night of Shiva, the night that we worship Shiva with great intensity. Devotees of Shiva worship Shiva this evening without sleep, chanting the names of Shiva or Om Namah Shivaya the entire night.

Devotees stay awake to worship Shiva with deep gratitude in their hearts for what Shiva has given to the entire humankind or the entire species of the world.

On this auspicious day/night, a few members from Mohanji Foundation UK travelled to Aberdeen to celebrate the first Mahashivaratri at the Mohanji Centre of Benevolence.

Mohanji says all you have to do during Shivaratri is to chant within Om Namah Shivaya, or Om Hreem Namah Shivaya, to balance the Shiva and Shakti. And concentrate on your heart centre, bring the energy there, focus on it, and you can do fasting and abishekam of Shiva linga (pouring water over Shiva linga) with the chant. Or you can go into a deep meditation or penance. This is all to bring you to yourself.

The day started with Snowfall followed by bright Sunshine. The whole MCB was engulfed with bright white/golden light. ❄️☀️

In the evening, we poured the water into the land of MCB; the water was given by Swami Surya from SkandaVale (this water was the full moon abhishekam water of Mother Kali.)

By the grace of the divine, we got an opportunity to witness the balance of Shiva and Shakti on this auspicious day.

We did pour the water into the land of MCB, and we did the abhishekam, prayers, and Rudra chanting.

Check our photos; these photos will narrate the story of Mahashivaratri at MCB.
