Chanting

What is Chanting?

Mantras are a unique set of words whose proper pronunciation (out loud or in the mind) connects us to the Source.

These are mostly written in the ancient language of Sanskrit, the mother of all languages. Each mantra carries a certain vibration which, after a certain time of repeating, penetrates deep into our system, essentially transforming us. There are different mantras and each has a purpose and a unique power.

Chanting mantras is especially beneficial in this era of frequent changes, rapid happenings, mind’s oscillations and potential confusions, when meditating is difficult. Chanting gathers our scattered thoughts into one unit, spontaneously taking us into the meditative state of calm and stability. The more time we connect to the meditative state of no thoughts, the more we connect to the powerful essence of ourselves, our soul, where no anger, jealousy, fear, sadness, insecurity and other emotions exist.

The higher the number of repetitions of a mantra, the greater the effect of the mantra. It is especially recommended to repeat the mantra 108 times in one sitting. The number can increase to 1008 or even 10008 repetitions. If the 108 or more repetitions are done for 41 days, one “Mandala” (chanting cycle) is completed.

For the mantra to work, it must be uttered clearly and in its entirety  – out loud, quietly or in the mind. Mohanji advises us to choose one mantra that we will repeat regularly. When focus is on one, results are always better.

It can be done by all except pregnant ladies and those who suffer from seizures, epilepsy, vertigo; people with severe heart problem and blood pressure.
