The Art of Giving

Dear BTW Family,

Mohanji explains what the effect of selfless giving is, and how to do it gracefully so that both the giver and receiver benefit. In addition, he points out how  the guru principle works in this process and why personal involvement is important to create an internal shift. Liberation is the ultimate goal.

Love,

BTW Team

Mohanji-about-Giving

You can create higher and higher dimensions to your art of giving.

My beloveds

There is nothing more beautiful than giving. Especially, if giving is totally unconditional. When we give wholeheartedly, our whole heart expands. Our life becomes more meaningful, worthwhile.

When we take from someone, we may perhaps be happy for a few minutes or hours, then the happiness erodes and more needs replace that space which was occupied by the momentary happiness a few minutes earlier. But, giving keeps you liberated.

Giving keeps you free and abundant. Abundance fills our heart and it shows. It shines forth in our expressions. Fresh water fills into the well when the bucket removes a quantity of water from it. When we give, grace fills in.

Giving also has its degree variations. When we give the most precious possession for a higher cause, it becomes a challenge to our existence. If we survive that challenge and if we perform the act of giving, our consciousness shifts. Our awareness level changes. We achieve beautiful states of existence.

All people have good hearts and attitude of service in them. Spiritual liberation depends on how one expresses that in their daily life. Some spontaneously give money for a good cause and forget it. This is a passive good man. He is reasonably indifferent. Some collect some materials or money and help the needy.

This man is further evolved. Some people stay through until the problem is solved. They are still higher in their evolution of selflessness. Some take another step by preventing a re-occurence of the same calamity in the victim’s life. These are still closer to liberation.

So, it would be a good idea to look at yourself and understand your method of operation in such situations. Look within. Only you can change yourself.

Look within. Only you can change yourself.

Now, consider also one important point. When you crave for expressing your kindness, such as feeding the poor, it becomes the responsibility of the nature to provide you the poor and hungry. Look at it from another angle – In order to satisfy our wish, or to achieve our happiness, we need an object that suffers.   So, those who walk the path of karma yoga (selfless service) should understand this concept very well. We should help the helpless, no doubt. But, as I mentioned in the case of the last person who ensured that no further calamity happens to the victim, an act of kindness should be a bridge to liberation for both the giver and receiver.

This means, an act of charity should be aimed at creating self-sufficiency in the receiver. The more self-sufficient the receiver is, the more liberated you are, from him. The one who gives and the ones who receives are inter-dependent. One does not exist without the other.

So, our aim, our prayer should be, “Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu”, “Let everyone be self-sufficient. With my act of charity, may the receiver be empowered to lead his life on his own. Let me not create dependency in those whom we give.

Let me stay liberated and let those who receive from me stay liberated. Each act of charity may attain completion this way. Let my life be complet, too.”

This is the art of giving

Giving should lead to completion, and liberation. Giving should automatically lead us to shedding and liberation. Giving should lead us to liberation. Liberation is the ultimate aim. Giving without awareness breeds dependency.

We create takers. We create dependents. This binds us. This binds them to us. So, whenever we give, do it with awareness. Do give, but, give only with awareness. Never create dependency.

Lastly, I am very happy to see the world responding to my call for giving food to the poor and hungry on 12.12.12. The way I am getting messages, we are looking at providing food to at least 300,000 people worldwide. The purpose is to feel the bliss of giving.

This means, as far as possible, do it yourself along with your family. Giving money away to orphanages or poor homes are secondary. Do it that way, if you cannot do it yourself. First preference should be to do it yourself. This can help create a shift in awareness.

The bliss of giving that you will experience yourself, when you serve wholeheartedly, can make a constitutional shift within. If you prepare food yourself and give, it is even more blissful. If you chant the mantras while cooking, the food becomes offering to the Lord Almighty.

You can create higher and higher dimensions to your art of giving.

The purpose is to feel the bliss of giving.

Let the children also enjoy the bliss of giving. Tell them that the receiver is extending us a favor by taking food from us. The receivers are helping us to attain the bliss of giving. They are also an integral part of our existence. They are also representing the eternal guru principle.

They are helping us experience bliss and this is a first hand experience for yourself. Bless them, have gratitude towards them for that.

I wish all of you happiness, peace and bliss always.

I am with you and love you always

Infinite Love

  1. The most evolved is the one who gives spontaneously, a LOT, in abundance so as to overwhelm the receiver, also unconditionally, immediately for he catches on to the Divine vibe and delivers swiftly pleasing the Divine and maintaining His honour. I recently had such an experience of giving. A long lost acquaintance of the past needed 5000 bucks. He said he had contracted a Hepatitis disease and needed medicines. In the past we had together done Rehab for drug deaddiction. I wired him 6 instead of 5 thousand not ruling out the possibility of his wanting the money for doing illicit drugs. Everything was done in a matter of 30 minutes. I felt sooooo happy. The feeling was same when as a kid I used to give food and money to servant children and street children and desired their company and adored them for being poor. I don’t mind that I couldn’t buy my 1st smartphone or that my help may be used for furthering my friends addiction.
