The Sacred Abode of Liberation
At 3,710 metres above sea level, in the vast silence of the Annapurna Himalayas, Muktinath is not a place you visit. It is a place that calls you.
Revered for millennia by Hindus, Buddhists, and Bons alike, Muktinath stands as one of the most powerful centres of liberation on Earth — a space where centuries of prayer, pilgrimage, and realised masters have left an indelible mark on the very air. Here, the five sacred elements — earth, water, fire, air, and space — meet in natural harmony. Here, the inner noise fades, and something deeper takes over.
In September 2026, join Mohanji on this extraordinary 4-day pilgrimage through one of the most spiritually potent landscapes on the planet.
Where Shiva Meets Vishnu, Where Earth Meets Heaven
Muktinath is rare in every sense. As one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu, it is among the few places on Earth where the Divine is believed to have manifested directly — and yet it is equally sacred to Buddhist pilgrims as a tantric site where Guru Padmasambhava himself meditated. The sacred Shaligram stones of the Gandaki River, the powerful Shakti presence of Mother Lakshmi, and the natural convergence of all five elements make this a pilgrimage site unlike any other.
This is not a journey you take with your mind. It is one you feel in your bones.
What Awaits You on This Pilgrimage
Muktinath Temple — Darshan of the Lord of Liberation
Receive blessings at one of Lord Vishnu’s 108 sacred abodes, where divine presence is not symbolic but felt.
108 Mukti Dhara — The Waters of Release
Step beneath the 108 cow-headed waterspouts channelling the holy Gandaki River. Cold, sacred, and utterly purifying — an act of surrender that pilgrims remember for the rest of their lives.
Jwala Mai Temple — The Eternal Flame
Witness a natural gas flame burning continuously alongside flowing water. Fire and water, coexisting — a living expression of the divine in all creation.
Samba Gompa & Narshing Gompa — Buddhist Sanctuaries of Transformation
Offer prayers to Padmasambhava, Avalokiteśvara, and protective tantric deities. These monasteries are profound spaces for clearing obstacles, healing, and deepening spiritual awareness.
Paap Kunda & Punya Kunda — Release of All Karma
Dip in both sacred ponds and release what you carry — the burdens and the merits alike. True liberation, the tradition teaches, comes from exhausting all karma, not just the difficult kind.
The Gandaki River — Blessings of Mother Lakshmi
Drink her waters. Receive her grace. The Gandaki is considered a living form of the Divine Mother — a source of purification, abundance, and spiritual protection.
4 Days in the Himalayas
-
4 September — Pokhara
Fly into the Himalayan city. Settle in and visit Fewa Lake, Davis Fall, Gupteshwar Cave, and Bindyabasini Temple as a gentle opening to the journey. -
5 September — Jomsom
Drive through dramatic mountain terrain via Tatopani, ascending deeper into the trans-Himalayan landscape. -
6 September — Muktinath
The heart of the pilgrimage. Temple darshan, puja, immersion in the 108 Mukti Dhara, and visits to the sacred monasteries and shrines. A day that stays with you. -
7 September — Return to Kathmandu
Fly back to Kathmandu and onward to your next destination, carrying the grace of Muktinath with you.
Also Joining the Kailash Pilgrimage?
For those already on the Kailash yatra, Muktinath offers a natural and profoundly meaningful continuation. Carry the sacred waters of Lake Manasarovar — home of Lord Shiva — and offer them at the feet of Lord Vishnu at Muktinath. This is considered the ultimate offering: from Shiva to Vishnu, from one axis of the universe to the other.
Two of the most powerful pilgrimage sites on Earth. One sacred season.
The Call Has Already Come
You do not find Muktinath. Muktinath finds you.
If something in these words has stirred a quiet recognition — a knowing that this is your time — trust it. Come as you are, with an open heart, and allow one of the most sacred places on Earth to meet you where you are.
Spaces are limited. Full details — itinerary, inclusions, and everything you need to know — are on the dedicated pilgrimage page.
