World Tribal Alliance ORIGINS 2025

ORIGINS – World Tribal Alliance Gathering 2025, Cape Town

The World Tribal Alliance (WTA) held its first official gathering, ORIGINS, from November 5-10, 2025. The event brought together 11 tribal elders and wisdom keepers from around the world, along with ambassadors, supporters, and collaborators from various fields.
The initiative was envisioned by Mohanji and realized through the leadership of Dominic Venton (CEO of WTA), Anna Dala Nora (President of WTA), and a dedicated volunteer team.

A Significant Beginning

The gathering began with an invitation from Queen Elouise of the Korana people. On her ancestral land, a long-standing tradition shifted. Instead of beginning the ceremony with the sacrifice of a bull, the Queen agreed to honor life. Four young bulls were blessed and released. She later confirmed that her ancestors had guided her toward this decision and that from now onwards, performing the animal sacrifices was no longer required, according to her ancestors’ instructions.

Ceremonies and Shared Experiences

Across the week, participants took part in several gatherings at culturally and historically important locations:
  • Cape Point: A ceremony led by San Elders
  • Robben Island: Prayers in remembrance of those who suffered there
  • Table Mountain: A sunrise ceremony symbolizing renewal
  • Castle of Good Hope: A gathering later that day with sharing, songs, and collective reflection
In addition to these key moments, each elder and tribal representative led their own traditional practices – fire ceremonies, sunrise rituals, tribal singing, and contributions from ambassadors. These sessions allowed each lineage to share something authentic from its heritage.

Closing at !Khwa ttu

The final day of ORIGINS took place at !Khwa ttu, the San culture and heritage center. The closing was a full-day gathering marked by music, movement, interaction, and a warm sense of completion. It brought together everything that had been shared during the week in a grounded and meaningful way.

A Step Toward Collective Unity

The gathering received support from contributors including Craig Foster, Matías De Stefano, Zach Bush, Robert Edward Grant, and others who share the vision of honoring indigenous wisdom.
ORIGINS marked an important step in building bridges between tribal communities, environmental advocates, and global supporters, with a focus on sincerity, unity, and respect for the Earth.
