Connect with yourselves
Guru Mohan is like any other person. He is a family man with a regular job. But what sets him apart from regular folks is that he is also a spiritual leader who believes that meditation is the answer to our problems.
In the city for a meditation workshop, Mohan said,
“Meditation is a lot like medicine. You can’t prescribe one for everyone. Each person must meditate to suit his or her own needs.”
Mohan says that it was in 2000, after the tragic loss of his daughter, that he realised how “helpless humans are.”
“Meditation doesn’t always mean sitting down in one place and closing eyes. Meditation is being comfortable in one’s own skin, finding comfort in doing what you want. It also means being completely aware of yourself. At any given point, if you are aware of your actions and what its consequences are, it is meditation.”
People should learn to connect with themselves… only then will they learn to love others. It’s the mantra of happiness.
— Guru Mohan
And, how can people attain happiness?
“We depend too much on others for our happiness. In fact, we are the means of our own happiness and others are just complimentary. That way, we can find happiness in life.”
He added,
“People should learn to connect with themselves. Connecting with oneself means understanding your actions. Once you make peace with yourself, you automatically connect with yourself. People should love and support themselves, only then will they learn to love others. That is the mantra of being happy.”
Mohan is currently working as a consultant for a firm in Muscat, where he lives with his family.
