Guruvayur – model Temple to Come Up at Vrindavan
The foundation proposes to raise the finances for the project through crowd funding, and it has already initiated the process for acquiring three acres for the proposed temple. We have already paid the advance for the land, Mohanji said.
Architect Jayan Balachandran, who is also associated with the project, said a museum, conference hall, library, an ashram for widowed women and several other Kerala-style buildings are also planned there.
Apart from the temple, the project would also include the development of a township around it. The whole project is likely to cost about Rs 120 crore, according to the Vasthu expert Kanippayyur Kuttan Nambodirippad, who has prepared the sketch for the proposed temple.
However, the foundation officials said the project will be executed in phases and the first phase will comprise the construction of the sanctum sanctorum, at an investment of Rs 5 to 10 crore.
An interesting feature of the proposed temple will be that it will be open to people of all religious faith, provided they respect the sanctity of the space, said Madhasudan Rajagopalan, who is the global CEO of Mohanji Foundation. “This is the condition we have agreed with the thantri,” said Rajagopalan.
The proposed temple is to be located in the outskirts of historical town of Nandgaon in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh, Kuttan Nambodirippad said.
“The Thanthri and I travelled a lot through the area searching for a plot suitable to locate the Guruvayurappan temple. This plot’s geological settlement was found suitable for constructing a Vaishnava temple,” Kuttan Nambodirippad said.
This temple will also face the east, and will be almost a replica of the Guruvayur temple. It will also have water bodies like the ponds and wells in Guruvayur and even a banyan tree similar to the Manjulal, he added.
However, the dimensions of new temple will be slightly smaller than the Guruvayur temple, he said. The temple will be constructed in a pre-fabrication format, in which much of the components will be constructed in Kerala and will be taken to Vrindavan to be assembled there, he said.
